Science Based Moon Sighting Calculation
This letter is being written, during this blessed month of Ramadhan, as a plea to you, the Muslim Ummah. Our people are in the midst of the most horrific and disuniting act of our time. As well-educated Muslims, we are today, being told by several of our “leaders” that Islam in the 21st Century is not up to par with science. Should we Muslims be basing the most blessed month of Ramadhan and the day of Eid-ul-fitr on mere calculations, which today are proven by astronomers to be just a probability? The definition of Probable is “something supported by evidence strong enough to establish presumption but not proof”. A probability is the chance that a given event will occur. Are we really going to adopt such blasphemous innovations such as starting the Blessed month of Ramadhan and ending it, on mere chance alone? We are told that if a person misses even ONE day of fasting during this month without reason, an entire year of fasting will not do it justice. Differences of opinion can occur, but not when there is only ONE COMMAND. Our Great LORD tells us not to exit this Blessed month until its time is completed. Can we really go against the direct order of ALLAAH, even when the sky is clear and there is no moon visible? Can we really look at these guidelines along with cautions, and change them by sheer possibility? Can going against the rules of the LORD by a probability create unity? These selected individuals are causing a fitna amongst the ummah when other grave problems are at hand. Can science supersede our religion? The answer is NO. How can we go directly against our blessed Quran?
Unity on Moon Sighting
We the people of this ummah must unify. This cannot be done by letting individual nationalistic tendencies, or work schedules interfere with the direct orders of our Great Messenger, whom Peace and Blessings of the LORD be upon. Let us take action and stop this horrific act from proceeding. We must take these questions and answers provided below to our individual centers of worship and help them understand the gravity of this issue. Please for the sake of our future, watch this clip, and read the article below. Each and everyone one of us will be judged by how we respond to these profound innovations changing our divine religion.
